Back (Press Release Index)
Sketch-22, last summer’s hit live sketch comedy show, returns this December with a special Christmas show at the Guild, featuring all new material.
Performers Rob MacDonald, Graham Putnam, Jason Rogerson, Dennis Trainor and Josh Weale get into the holiday spirit as they embark on a quest for the true meaning of Christmas. Along the way they’ll keep you laughing with their unique brand of original and satirical sketches. Son of God paternity issues, a radio call-in show to Santa gone wrong, and last minute gift shopping for Jesus - it’s all part of the show’s diverse comedic mix.
Produced by Jason Rogerson, the production team is rounded out by stage manager guru, Ghislaine O’Hanley, graphic design wizard, Laura O’Brien, and front of house ninja, Lorrie Jollimore. Director Rob MacDonald was unavailable for comment, but the following note was intercepted.
Dear Santa,
I've been a very good boy this year. This year for Christmas, I would like lots of people to come out and see Sketch-22's new Christmas show. There'll be sketches that have you in it, Santa, and your good friend, baby Jesus, too. We've been working real hard, viewing the Christmas season through the Sketch-22 lens, and we're excited about the sketches we've come up with. It'll be a fun and crazy show, and we hope the Sketch-22 audience can find time in their busy Christmas schedule to come and see what we've come up with.
Love, Rob
As in past seasons, the production will be complimented by the group’s trademark video shorts, one of which was screened at the first annual Toronto Sketch Comedy Festival this November. A special DVD, featuring material from the group’s first two seasons, as well as other video goodies, will be available for purchase exclusively at the Christmas show.
A Sketch-22 Christmas plays December 8 - 11, 15, 16 & 18 at 8 p.m. at the Guild, 115 Richmond St., Charlottetown. Tickets are $15, available exclusively at the door. Doors open at 7 p.m. Donations to the Upper Room Hospitality Ministry are gratefully accepted. For more information, visit www.sketch22.ca. This show contains explicit material.
